GMC Yukon Driving

The engine is one of your car's major parts. When something goes wrong, the engine lets you know. One problem that can happen to your vehicle's engine is overheating. An engine can overheat due to several causes, ranging from simple fixes like needing to refill your fluid levels to more serious issues, including damaged and broken parts. To pinpoint the cause of your car's engine overheating and get the problem fixed promptly, contact our service center for service.

Thermostat Failure

Every engine has a part called the thermostat. The thermostat is a small valve that controls the flow of coolant fluid out of the engine. If the thermostat stops working, it can't regulate the flow of fluid through the engine, which leads to an excess build-up of coolant fluid in the engine. The engine will then start to strain and overheat as a result.

Radiator Problems

Another important mechanical component of your vehicle is the radiator. The radiator is part of the car's cooling system. The radiator's primary task in regulating engine temperature and operations is to keep the engine from getting too hot. The radiator works with fans to help regulate the engine's operating temperature internally. The radiator itself can break and fail to keep the engine at the right temperature. The fans who work with the radiator to cool the engine can also break, get clogged with debris, or otherwise become damaged, which makes the engine get too hot.

Worn Hoses and Belts

The cooling system in your vehicle contains many belts and hoses. As with other belts and hoses in your car, the cooling system components are subject to wear and tear over time, which is more common with older and higher-mileage vehicles. The belts can wear excessively and eventually break, which will trigger the engine's temperature to rise. The hoses can also break and develop leaks or become filled with contaminants such as dirt, dust, and other particles, which keeps them from delivering coolant fluid to the engine.

Cooling System Leak

The cooling system contains many different components. Any one of the parts may break and cause the engine to overheat. Small leaks and cracks can turn into more serious problems that lead to more extensive repairs.

Bad Water Pump

Your vehicle's engine contains a part called the water pump, which will fail to work properly if it breaks. The water pump can develop leaks, and its parts can start to erode, which will also cause engine overheating.
