2026 GMC CANYON MODEL REVIEW - SCOTTSDALE, AZ
What's New for the 2026 GMC Canyon?
The Canyon's ultra-rugged AT4X trim now arrives with a factory-installed lift kit with Multimatic Jounce Control Dampers to improve off-road capability. GMC also offers a new Nightfall Essentials Package for shoppers who want a stealthier appearance; it bundles exclusive 20-inch alloy wheels with all-terrain tires and black badging. Other updates to the lineup include a new Coastal Dune exterior color and the option of gloss-black wheels.
What Are the 2026 Canyon Trims & Features?
GMC sells the 2026 Canyon in four primary trims: Elevation, AT4, AT4X, and Denali. Even the entry-level Elevation is trail-ready thanks to an off-road-tuned suspension and comes standard with many desirable features. Notable equipment includes an 11.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a digital gauge cluster, and keyless entry.
The AT4 adds rugged hardware, such as an automatic locking rear differential and a two-speed transfer case, to boost off-road competence. Comfort and convenience features on this trim include dual-zone automatic climate control, remote engine start, and power heated front seats.
When it comes to extreme off-roading, the AT4X is the top performer. It features Multimatic DSSV suspension dampers, rock rails, and selectable front and rear locking differentials to handle the most challenging terrain. A high-performance Bose audio system is also standard.
Those who prefer more refinement should look at the Denali. The Canyon Denali brings chrome exterior accents and upgrades the technology with a head-up display and a Surround-Vision camera system.

How Much Horsepower Does the 2026 Canyon Have?
Every Canyon is powered by a Turbomax four-cylinder that produces 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. With the available Trailering Package, the Canyon can tow up to 7,700 pounds. While 4WD is optional on the Elevation, it comes standard on the AT4, AT4X, and Denali.
What Safety Features Does the 2026 Canyon Include?
The Canyon includes a suite of driver-assist systems designed to help you avoid hazards. Standard safety features include Forward Collision Alert with Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane-Keep Assist, Front Pedestrian/Bicyclist Braking, a Following Distance Indicator, and IntelliBeam automatic headlamps.
