How does the GMC Terrain Engine Balance Power Needs and Fuel Economy?

The Terrain is turbocharged but comes with three optional engines. The 2020 GMC Terrain has dropped its turbo-diesel option, and instead, introduced two optional turbocharged powertrains. The 2020 GMC Terrain offsets an all-wheel-drive system through its slick-shifting automatic transmission and smooth, composed ride. All trims use a standard 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, which produces 203 pounds of torque and 179 horsepower. That horsepower is enough for riding around town, but that does not mean a hilly terrain will make it breathless. Higher trims of the 2020 GMC Terrain come with an option for a 2.0-liter engine that can produce up to 260 lb-ft and 252 horsepower. That powerplant can tow up to 3,500 pounds, and it would be a worthy option if the automaker makes it a standard choice.

The gas engines come with front-wheel-drive as either optional or standard for the 9-speed automatic transmission. The 2020 GMC Terrain uses its turbocharged engines for fuel economy, but consumption remains the same for all trims. The base 2020 Terrain, which is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine and front-wheel-drive utilizes its 9-speed automatic transmission to manage as much as 30 highway and 26 mpg city.

Affordability and Packed with Safety Features Galore

2020 GMC TerrainThe 2020 GMC Terrain comes with active safety technology such as emergency braking, forward collision warnings, blind-spot monitors, and parking sensors, are available in all trim levels. A surround-view camera system and adaptive cruise control are optional on the higher trims.

The 2020 GMC Terrain is available in SLT, SLE, SL, and Denali trim, but the product line includes both downright posh and value-oriented models. The base SL model comes standard with cloth seats, two USB charging ports, the option for 4G LTE wifi, keyless ignition, active noise cancellation, and 17-inch wheels.

However, the SLT and SLE trims are fitted with additional style and comfort features such as LED headlights, a heated steering wheel, parking sensors, and leather upholstery.
