The Buick Encore is a subcompact SUV that's been in production since 2012. The second generation of this vehicle just debuted in 2020 after a complete refresh. Now, after a decade on the market, the Encore's lifespan is coming to an end.
General Motors, or GM for short, is the parent company of the Buick brand name. GM recently announced that they will cease production of the Buick Encore and discontinue the vehicle before the beginning of 2023. The Encore is considered an entry-level, subcompact crossover vehicle. So far, no direct replacement for the Encore has been announced.
Despite being discontinued, the current 2022 model is an excellent choice if you're looking for a small crossover vehicle. The Encore has room for five passengers and 48.4 cubic feet of cargo space. It's a practical vehicle with great performance, solid handling, and a comfortable interior. The Encore should not be confused with Buick's Encore GX. Although they share a similar name and style, these are two completely different vehicles.
The Encore GX will continue to be produced for the foreseeable future. The discontinued Encore was previously made in GM's Bupyeong factory in South Korea. The announcement about this vehicle's discontinuation was first reported by GM Authority, the leading source of information on General Motors' products.
