Buick’s brand-new Avista Concept car was a huge hit at this year’s Detroit Auto Show, and while initial reports claimed the car would not go into production, this may no longer be the case. According to MotorTrend, the Avista could end up arriving on the market after all as a four-door coupe, ditching its two-door design that originally debuted earlier this year.

Reports circulating around the automotive world claim Buick designers have already developed a four-door coupe version of the Avista Concept which they believe could get the green light for production. A four-door coupe model is much more appealing to today’s car buyers than the two-door coupe concept, which features less interior space and limits access to the backseat. Unlike the initial Avista Concept that was developed on the Alpha and Omega platforms, the four-door coupe would likely be built on the Alpha architecture in order to support its stretched wheelbase. It’s also expected to come with the original 3.0L V6 engine, generating 400 horsepower, and eight-speed automatic transmission found on the two-door coupe.
