Van Buick GMC's 2014 Terrain Review and Research

The GMC Terrain, introduced in 2009, served as GMC's answer to the outgoing Pontiac Torrent. A compact crossover SUV, the Terrain is a smaller version of its sibling, the GMC Acadia, with its own personality and design. With a smooth ride and a collection of amenities, the 2014 models are at the top of their game and remain a frontrunner in their class.

Available in three trim levels, SLE, SLT and Denali, the Terrain offers a laundry list of standard and available features. The exterior design stays true to its 2013 counterpart, with a sloping three-tier grille, chrome accents and sculpted frame, but its wheel options have been slightly modified. Seventeen-inch wheels now come standard on SLE models and 18-inch wheels are standard on SLT2. The addition of a new color option, Silver Sky Metallic, also gives the Terrain an updated coating. Inside the cabin, a quiet presence is matched with optimal legroom/cargo space, five-passenger seating and a slew of advanced technology functions. Praised in numerous 2014 GMC Terrain reviews for its available amenities, the interior features Color Touch Radio, automatic climate control, heated seating, a sunroof, a telescoping steering wheel, a Premier Pioneer sound system and the GMC IntelliLink infotainment system. Designed for the smartphone generation, young buyers will admire IntelliLink's capabilities, which include Siri Eyes Free, voice recognition, Pandora Internet radio and text message support, allowing drivers to respond to incoming messages.

Chassis and suspension technologies complement the Terrain's available V-6 engine, ensuring a smooth drive during short- and long-distance travel. Hydraulic-powered steering, Stabilitrak, four-wheel suspension, and an extended wheelbase contribute to the vehicle's cloud-like glide and create efficient handling. A 2.4L Eco-Tec engine and electric power steering come standard on base models.
