What's New For the 2019 GMC Yukon?

Bigger and bolder is arguably the mantra for the 2019 GMC Yukon, which offers more in the way of size, technology, and safety features than ever before. In 2019, the GMC Yukon has an impressive passenger capacity of up to eight occupants. This year, GMC focuses on both power and luxury with the latest Yukon.

Featuring a powerful eight-cylinder engine and optional four-wheel drive helps you power easily through even the toughest conditions. Fully equipped, the newest Yukon can tow up to 8,400 pounds. While the Yukon is certainly tough on the outside, its interior is loaded with a number of technology features and upgraded materials to make any drive more pleasant no matter how far you're going.

Four Choice Trim Variations

This year, there are four trim levels of the GMC Yukon to choose from. The base model is called the SLE, and with the amenities it offers you will have plenty to look forward to even on the entry-level model. Highlights of the SLE include an eight-inch infotainment system, which is GMC's own creation, that comes with Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. For the driver's convenience and safety, this system is voice-activated. Other standard features include a rear vision camera and parking assistance for both forward and reverse parking maneuvers.

Moving up to the SLT Standard, you'll add leather front seats, which are also heated, and a more comprehensive safety package with lane-keep assist, collision avoidance, and intelligent headlights. A programmable liftgate, which operates without your hands, is another convenient standard amenity. The SLT, which is next on the lineup, adds perforated front seats that are ventilated and heated for year-round comfort. In this trim, the second-row seats are also heated. The seats in the second row fold flat to make room for cargo, while the third-row seats fold flat in a bench-style manner to maximize space. A keyless entry and leather-wrapped heated steering wheel are other notable highlights of this trim. The touchscreen on this trim is a multi-color, voice-activated display screen for convenience. You'll also upgrade to a premium nine-speaker sound system in this trim.

Last but certainly not least is the Denali. The Denali features all the previous standard amenities plus larger 20-inch wheels and chrome accents on the outside. On the inside, wood grain accents give the interior a much more luxurious feel. The seats in the Denali are heated, ventilated, and perforated for maximum driver and passenger comfort.

The Power Under the Hood

2019 GMC YukonThe 2019 GMC Yukon is powered by one of two engines. The base engine, which is standard in all trim levels except the Denali, is a 5.3L, eight-cylinder engine that generates up to 355 HP at 5,600 RPM and up to 383 LB-FT of torque at 4,100 RPM. This engine has direct injection technology and variable valve timing for efficiency, power, and fuel economy. The standard engine in the Denali is a more powerful 6.2L, eight-cylinder engine that produces up to 420 HP at 5,600 RPM and up to 460 LB-FT of torque at 4,100 RPM. This engine also has direct injection and variable valve timing technology. Two-wheel drive is the standard drivetrain configuration, while four-wheel drive is optional.

Vehicle Protection & Safety Features

2019 GMC YukonIf you're wondering whether or not GMC sacrificed safety for technology and luxury, the answer is a solid "no." This year's Yukon is designed with a number of safety features, including an industry-first center airbag that protects occupants even more in case of a crash. There are also side and overhead airbags that keep everyone as safe as possible in the event of a collision or a rollover. Completing the Yukon's safety offerings are an array of driver-assist safety features including automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and lane-keep assist.
