
No matter your musical tastes, you’re sure to enjoy the live shows being featured this month at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts’ Virginia G. Piper Theater. The venue’s comfortable, inviting atmosphere and excellent acoustics make it the perfect place to enjoy a night of live music.
Start off your weekend at the venue’s next Live & Local Fridays event, where you can check out local talent and enjoy happy hour specials and 10-percent discounts at the center’s award-winning store, which sells handmade jewelry, unique furniture, fair-trade crafts and many other special items.
Shows start at 8 p.m. every Friday night this month and tickets are only $10 per person. If you arrive early, you’ll also have a chance to grab some modern Mexican tacos and terrific happy hour drink specials from Distrito starting at 6 p.m.
Acts featured at Live & Local Fridays include the Tommy Ash Band on Aug. 14, who will be playing a great mix of country western and rockabilly tunes, and singer/songwriter Teneia Sanders, who will perform a Motown-flavored pop set on Aug. 21.
Culminating the concert series on Aug. 28 is acclaimed flamenco crew Inspiración Flamenca who will end the event with an exciting performance that combines exceptional vocal and guitar work with blazing dance moves and colorful costumes.
