Derrick Hall is more than just the President and CEO of the Arizona Diamondbacks. He's also a prostate cancer survivor and the Honorary Walk Chairman of this year's 6th annual Tim Barber Walk for POP. The festive and educational event aims to beat prostate cancer one step at a time, while not only celebrating those who have survived the disease, but also those who've lost their lives to what is now the second-most diagnosed cancer among men.
On Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014, you're invited to join your fellow community members for a fundraising event that will benefit POP (Prostate On-Site Project). The walk will take place at Tempe Kiwanis Park on 6111 S. All-America Way. Click here for details and online registration.
Along with raising money to aid POP's mobile prostate screening units, this event also plays an important role in raising awareness about an often preventable disease that claims the lives of thousands of men annually. Just a simple 15 minute exam could prevent 600 deaths a year in Arizona alone, but many times the disease goes unchecked until it's too late, often because there are virtually no symptoms or because men do not know how to identify the warning signs.
Join POP in its mission to provide screenings and inform men about this dangerous disease. Register for the walk today or consider making a donation!
